Formation of Three Auspicious Yogas on Gangaur Puja 2024

On April 11th, Gangaur Puja 2024 is celebrated, and on this day, three auspicious yogas are formed. Ayushman Yoga, Preeti Yoga, and Ravi Yoga are considered highly auspicious for Gangaur Puja. Ravi Yoga lasts from 6:00 AM on April 11th until 1:38 AM on the next day. Following that, Preeti Yoga lasts until 7:19 AM, and then Ayushman Yoga begins, lasting until 4:30 AM on April 12th. After this, the Subhagya Yoga begins.

Observance of Gangaur Puja 2024 for 18 Days

Primarily, Gangaur Puja 2024 is observed on the third day of the bright half of the Chaitra month. However, in Rajasthan, the festival begins on the full moon of the Falgun month, i.e., Holi, and continues for 18 days thereafter.

Daily Worship of Shiv and Parvati Idols

Gangaur Puja holds special significance because in many regions of Rajasthan, idols of Shiv and Parvati are crafted and worshipped daily for 18 days. They are adorned like a bride and groom, and auspicious songs are sung in their honor. Additionally, on the third day of Chaitra Navratri, women pray to Shiv-Parvati adorned in sixteen ornaments for the longevity of their marital bliss.

Gifting of Dowry Items to Elders

During Gangaur Puja, not only are auspicious items offered to Shiv and Parvati but women also gift dowry items to elders in their homes such as mothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and elder sisters. It is believed that this enhances prosperity in life and multiplies the benefits of the fast.

Observance of Gangaur Puja in Secret from Husbands

Gangaur Puja is observed secretly from husbands. It is believed that by concealing the puja from their husbands, the fast yields fruitful results. Hence, most women keep the puja items in a special place within their homes. Moreover, husbands are not offered the prasad after the puja, marking a unique aspect of Gangaur Puja.

Gangaur Puja holds profound cultural and religious significance, not only for its rituals but also for the values of devotion and marital bliss it upholds.
