In the sacred city of Ayodhya, the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla is set to take place on January 22nd, with the installation of the idol already completed in the sanctum sanctorum. The first glimpse of the Ram Lalla sculpture was revealed on Friday. This exquisite creation comes from the skilled hands of Arun Yogiraj, a sculptor residing in Karnataka.

Arun Yogiraj, hailing from Mysuru, Karnataka, belongs to a lineage deeply rooted in the art of sculpture, spanning multiple generations. His father, Yogiraj Shilpi, is an accomplished sculptor, and his grandfather, Basavanna Shilpi, showcased his artistic prowess in the palaces of the Wadiyar family in Mysuru. Arun’s connection to the royal artists of Mysuru adds a rich cultural heritage to his already illustrious lineage.

Initially hesitant to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Arun pursued an MBA at Mysuru University in 2008 and briefly worked in the corporate sector. However, destiny had other plans for him. True to the prediction of his grandfather, Arun eventually embraced his innate calling and became a sculptor, a decision that led to the creation of the divine Ram Lalla sculpture.

Arun Yogiraj not only sculpted the iconic Ram Lalla but has also left an indelible mark through various other masterpieces. One notable creation is the 30 feet statue of Subhash Chandra Bose near India Gate, Delhi. Additionally, he crafted a 12 feet idol of Adi Shankaracharya in Kedarnath, Uttarakhand, and a majestic 21 feet Hanuman statue in Chunchanakatte, Karnataka.

His workshop received a visit and personal appreciation from Kofi Annan, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations.
