Lord Vishwakarma, a Hindu deity and celestial architect, is celebrated on a special day called Vishwakarma Jayanti, sometimes referred to as “Bhadra Sankranti” or “Kanya Sankranti.” On the Gregorian calendar, this notable event usually occurs between September 16 and September 18, and in 2023, it occurs on Sunday, September 17. Vishwakarma Jayanti is revered by the engineering, architectural, artisan, craftsman, mechanic, blacksmith, welder, industrial, and factory worker communities. It is highly significant in industrial settings, particularly on the shop floor. They gather on this day to pay their respects, pray for a better tomorrow, demand safe working conditions, and wish success in their particular fields. They also ask for blessings for their equipment’s smooth running.
Drik Panchang states that four lucky yogas—Brahma Yoga, Dwipushkar Yoga, Amrit Siddhi Yoga, and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga—will be practised in conjunction with Vishwakarma Puja 2023.

Vishwakarma Puja Vidhi (Rituals):
In the morning, devotees rise early, take a cleansing bath, and put on clean clothing. They diligently clean their place of worship and add Ganga water for purification. The swastika emblem is made from a yellow piece of linen and embellished with crimson kumkum. After making a gift of rice and flowers, a statue, picture, or idol of Lord Vishwakarma is next put upon this swastika symbol.
Lord Ganesha is first worshipped throughout the prayer ceremony, and then Lord Vishwakarma. Lord Ganesha is always invoked first before any other deity in accordance with Hindu tradition. On Lord Vishwakarma’s forehead, a tilak (a vermilion mark) is placed, and a lamp is lit. Fruits, sweets, flowers, and other objects are offered to Lord Vishwakarma by devotees. To ensure the durability and prosperity of machinery and businesses, mantras are recited. Following the devotional ritual, followers ask for Lord Vishwakarma’s blessings and share fruits and treats with everyone in attendance.
